Mary has updated the mid-19th century penny-rug style of embroidered wool appliqué with a new look. Discover the visual warmth of wool, the appeal of embroidery, the charm of buttons, and the pizzazz of beads through the comprehensive visual discussion covering numerous construction approaches and edging treatments. Students learn “bead appliqué” as they collage a traditional, folk art, or contemporary quilt using the less costly, readily available, wool blend felt (or felted 100% wool). Work by hand, machine, or a combination... it’s your choice. Recreate one of Mary’s samples or let her help you design your own.
