2015 - Past Block of the Month
October - 2015
Alice Turner has designed a spectacular quilt based on the use of PRIMARY COLORS (the basic eight colors from the Crayola box). We will be making the same block every month during the year, but by changing the placement of color and VALUE (light, medium and dark), the visual perception of the block changes so that in many cases you will not recognize it as the same block.
For blocks made for the exchange, we are asking that the white always be used for squares designated as “light”. Prints may be used for the dark and medium colored squares, but they should be perceived as solids. We are hoping that these criteria will make all of the blocks in the exchange coordinate and that the winner of the block exchange will end up with enough squares for a great quilt! If you decide to make the blocks for your personal quilt, anything goes, just use the same color for the “light” in all your squares.
Barbara Gibson and Mary Ann Kroening are working with Alice, so pull out that Crayon Box or a good color wheel to check your colors and join in the fun!
