Luncheon and Auction

Luncheon with LIVE auction is a new and exciting addition to the 2007 Quilt Show of Glendale “Fiesta Fantastica.”  On Friday with the assistance of an auctioneer, you may bid on quilts, wearables, table runners, etc. that have been made by Glendale Quilt Guild members. A light luncheon will be served.  Announcement will be made of the winning quilts, wearables, vest, ATC’s and Post Card entries. Following the auction, the attendees will be admitted into the Show floor one-half hour before the official 2:00 PM opening. Be the first to see the “Best-of-Show” or the first to buy that special fabric at the vendor mall.  Only those who attend the luncheon will be admitted to the show early!  Come and enjoy bidding on the wonderful hand made items by Guild members.

Fashion Show

Designing Ladies Fashion Show.  Designing Ladies will present their always-popular Fashion Show at a new time.  This year’s “Fiesta de Colores” will include fabulous garments from nationally and locally known designers. The Fiber Arts Bazaar will have lovely gifts for purchase, and each attendee will receive a favor.  Tickets will be available for the Designing Ladies Opportunity Quilt; “Aguas Caliente” designed by Priscilla Bianchi.  This very colorful quilt mimics the designs on the traditional Guatemalan huiple (blouse) from the Lake Atitla region.  Come and celebrate the colors of fashion!

Celebrate the creativity and camaraderie of quilters!  This banquet is a joyous recognition of the designers of the winning works of 2007 Fiesta Fantastica.  View the quilts, wearables, dolls, ATC’s and Post Cards again on screen as you personally meet the winners. Check out the silent auction prior to and during the banquet (winners to be announced at the banquet conclusion).  Many door prizes will be awarded thanks to the generous Guild Affiliates and special sponsors.  After dinner, enjoy Mary Stori as she entertains with her lecture “Let It Shine” and with her own quilts, which show the magic and power of beads (see description in the teacher listing).  We encourage you to celebrate and enjoy this special evening.

Special Lecture and Luncheon
“A Look at History through the Eye of A Needle”

Zena Thorpe will be discussing the way women, over many centuries, have used their needlework to document their lives and tell their stories. Their quilts tell us much about women’s lives of past eras and they often record major historical events and shifts in philosophy.  The lecture will explore this theme covering the history and development of quilting and Zena's own development in the art, illustrated with many of her prize- winning quilts.  No slides -- just quilts, quilts, quilts!

Sunday March 18
